The Top Ten Statistical Mix-Ups in 510(k)s

Presented by Steven Walfish, President, Statistical Outsourcing Services
Tuesday, May 4, 2010; 1:00pm – 2:30pm EDT (GMT -4)

Firms developing devices for the market often have few statistical resources available – no staff dedicated to statistical analysis, too few personnel with time to develop an understanding of what is needed, and limited experience in the overall development of 510(k)s.

Most of the statistical analysis for a 510(k) can be accomplished using off-the-shelf software or Microsoft ExcelTM. But while this software may look like a quick and attractive solution, non-statisticians still find themselves confronted with interpreting the results of their analysis without sufficient training. This can lead to unnecessary and avoidable confusion and mix-ups in the reporting of results to FDA.

If you're facing putting together a 510(k), familiarize yourself with the most common (and daunting) issues -- and what you shouldn't do in your statistical analysis. Don't jeopardize your substantial equivalence success with a simple and easily avoidable error.

On Tuesday, May 4. join FOI Services and Steven Walfish at 1:00pm EDT for a 90-minute teleconference to examine the top ten statistical mix-ups and how to avoid them. If you’re an experienced statistician, this presentation isn’t for you – but if you’re a statistical beginner, you’ll appreciate the practical advice that will help you put together a statistically sound 510(k).
